My Experience
I was born and educated in Chester and trained and registered as a midwife in Scotland in 1985. I worked within a hospital and community setting for 16 years before moving back to Chester in 2001.
My passion for supporting mothers and their families with infant feeding led me to specialise in this area. When I returned to Chester, I set up the Infant Feeding Team at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
Under my guidance, the unit achieved the Baby Friendly Accreditation in 2010 and has retained it to date. This award is a nationally recognised mark of quality for the care given to babies and mothers. I have also trained more than 100 breastfeeding peer support volunteers, who have all been active in the hospital and the local community.
In 2004, I qualified as a Lactation Consultation and the following year I completed my training in tongue tie division. I have over 30 years’ experience in providing infant feeding support and advice, together with 15 years’ experience in assessing and dividing tongue ties.
I continue to work part-time within the infant feeding team at the Countess of Chester. However, I now also offer support with infant feeding in private practice and offer home visits in the North West of England and North Wales.
